Entry 5: choose a principle!

SO!!!! This week's topic was Traditional Media VS. New Media. AS I addressed on Facebook. I'm so bias against new media. I dwell on it because I feel "WE" the American people are so lazy and just prefer the easy way out of any situation. When I think of the traditional vs. New media topic, I really evaluate some thoughts that should be taken into consideration. I feel New media is nice....it is...however it's not cost effective at all, and it can be so impersonal. I enjoy when people work with materials and build from that, not just buy something that's already put together. There are pro's and con's to everything. I can truly agree with some of my friends that I would rather facetime than send a letter. It's nothing like that face-to-face interaction with someone, especially they're across world.

For this assignment I created a movement study and had my friend record it twice. The first taping I recorded it while moving really slow and the second taping I recorded it at and expedient pace. The principle I chose to illustrate through my movement was " NUMERICAL REPRESENTATION". I played with sound, shapes, and space to really accentuate the diversity of my study. I also used numerical representation in playing with my timing with my transitions. By doing this I had to really focus on my counts and accents.

I found this week to one of my favorites actually. I had fun in my art. I usually don't enjoy composing movement but knowing that I could play with a video I put my mind to it and made it happen. Enjoy!
